This notice covers the Sonaari® festival website sonaari.fi, enquiries, partnership requests and event feedback.

Send privacy questions and requests concerning your personal data to info@sonaari.fi. Explain which enquiry or matter your request concerns. Please do not send national identification numbers or sensitive information by ordinary email.
2. What data is processed and why?
- Enquiries and partnerships: your name, email address, subject and message, and any company name or telephone number you choose to provide. We use these details to respond and prepare collaborations. Processing is based on our legitimate interest in managing event communications and partnerships, or steps you request before entering a contract.
- Event feedback: your form answers and written feedback help improve the festival, based on our legitimate interest in developing the event. If you voluntarily provide an email address to enter the feedback form’s prize draw, it is used to contact you about the draw at your request. You can submit feedback without an email address.
- Comments: the name or nickname, comment and contact details entered in the form. WordPress also processes the IP address and browser information to detect spam. Published comments are visible to other visitors. Processing is based on our legitimate interest in maintaining discussion and preventing abuse.
- Technical use: the connection’s IP address and technical information sent by your browser are needed to deliver pages, investigate faults and maintain security. Processing is based on our legitimate interest in operating a functional and secure website.
Data comes from you through forms and email, and from your browser when you use the site. Required enquiry fields are needed to handle the matter and send a response. You do not need to fill in a contact form to browse the site.
3. Language selection and cookies
On a first visit, the website suggests Finnish for IP addresses located in Finland and English otherwise. The country is determined on the server using a local IP-country database. This language function does not send the IP address to an external geolocation service or keep a visitor log. Database: DB-IP.
You can change language using the flag buttons. Polylang’s pll_language cookie remembers your language choice; its default lifetime is one year. WordPress also uses login and preference cookies when a user signs in. You can delete stored cookies in your browser, which may reset preferences such as the selected language.
4. External services
The site uses WordPress and Jetpack, whose functions include the feedback form and visitor statistics. Processing by Automattic services is described in the Automattic privacy policy.
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts. Artist pages contain Spotify and SoundCloud players. When these external resources load, the provider receives technical connection data such as your IP address and may process cookies under its own policies. These services may process data outside the EU and EEA. Service-specific processing and international transfer arrangements are described in their policies: Google, Spotify and SoundCloud.
Live sets in the Festival 2026 section open as links to YouTube. Social media, partner and ticket links take you to the relevant provider’s website, where its own privacy policy applies.
5. Recipients and protection
Contact form messages are delivered to info@sonaari.fi. Data is handled, to the extent required for their tasks, by people responsible for festival enquiries and technical providers of the website, forms and email. Data is disclosed to authorities where required by law. The connection between your browser and this website is encrypted using HTTPS.
6. Retention
Retention depends on the purpose. Enquiries are needed while the matter and necessary follow-up are handled. Messages resulting in a partnership may also be needed to manage the contract and any legal claims. Statutory retention obligations apply to records that must be kept by law.
Personal data in feedback is needed to process the feedback; its content may be retained without identifying information for event development. The need for prize-draw contact details ends after the draw, winner communications and any related enquiries are completed. Public comments are assessed in relation to the purpose of the discussion and publication. Retention of technical information is assessed according to operational, security and troubleshooting needs.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you can request access, correction, deletion or restriction of processing. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. For automated processing based on consent or a contract, you may have the right to receive and transfer data you provided. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Send requests to info@sonaari.fi. We may need to verify your identity before disclosing data. You can also lodge a complaint with the Finnish Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.

This notice is updated when website services or personal data processing change. The current version and revision date are published on this page.
